A Party in France

The highlight of our holiday in France was a lovely garden party.  We were celebrating a couple of things: it was Pete’s parent’s 35th wedding anniversary, and it is also grandma Audrey’s 80th year (we are dragging out the celebrations for as long as possible!).  The idea was hatched last year, and began with us trying to convince Pete’s parents John and Christine to renew their vows.  The obvious place to do it would be at their house in Burgundy as it’s very pretty (we had the pictures in mind of course!), plus we haven’t been for three years and wanted an excuse to book a holiday in the middle of wedding season 🙂

Unfortunately renewing their vows is about the most embarrassing thing Christine can think of, and she is a very tough nut to crack!  A party instead then, with bunting and Pimm’s and perhaps a speech?

The party tent took the best part of a day to put up (before we arrived thankfully!)…

We were the decorations committee so we spent the morning of the party trimming up tables.  All the chairs and tables were borrowed from friends nearby.

We picked some wildflowers (or weeds?) from around the village…

After dinner we were treated to some fabulous musical entertainment…

Meanwhile I was being force-fed millefeuille.  This was probably the first time ever I haven’t finished a piece of cake.

That was fun.  It’s our four year anniversary next year, we should do it all again!
