France on Film

We went to Burgundy in July, so I could quietly turn 30 in the sunshine.

We took some pictures on our Contax 645 (with Porta 400, and Fuji 400H if you’re wondering. Scanned by the lovely folks at UK Film Lab).

  • Walking with Rosie

Last week we took a break from hibernating in front of our computer screens and went for a wander with our friend Rosie.  For once it wasn’t raining (hurrah!); armed with our cameras and a couple of cosy hats we ventured into the hills.  Good times 🙂

  • Man of the woods

Albert loves being outside.  We decided to make the most of this lovely weather we’ve been having and go exploring in the woods at Beacon Fell.  Such a gorgeous, peaceful place (even more so in the sunshine!).

  • Laura

This is my friend Laura.  We met on the first day of high school (“hi my name’s Laura” “No WAY so’s MINE!”) and bonded over our love of stationery, Clueless, making up dances, and our entrepreneurial spirit (we made a fortune selling decorative objects made of salt dough at school fetes).  Here are some pictures I…

  • Just Us

In the down time before ‘wedding season’ is in full swing we are enjoying having lots of fun play time with Albert.  He loves being outside, marvelling at the trees and the sounds of the birds; we are going to have so much fun this summer when he can totter around and really explore! If…

People ask us all the time if we…

  1. What lens are you using there? The DOF and bokeh is awesome. I need to get a Contax. The contrast is immense too – have you notched it up in Photoshop or is this all in-camera/on-film? 🙂

  2. Beautiful photographs with your Contax. Love the trench! What village is this?

  3. Thanks Susan! These were shot in two places, Culles-les-Roches and the town next to it – Saint-Gengoux-Le-National. We love it there!

  4. Thanks for the info, Pete. I’m headed to France next month, but not to Burgundy (wish I were — but plans are all set). We have a mutual friend, Jennifer Clare. That’s how I found your blog. I may connect to you on Facebook to keep up with your work.
