Peter — Sun, 02 Sep 2012 11:15:28 +0000

Wow, this was quite the epic day! Two wedding ceremonies, a 16 hour day, and a couple that exude happiness – our longest ever wedding would seem to deserve the longest ever blog post, so much so that we’re going to have to split this into two parts!

Here’s part one!

On to part two!

Ellen & Umesh’s Hindu Wedding at Dukinfield Town Hall

Laura — Tue, 17 Apr 2012 16:37:37 +0000

Not many people can get us out of bed before 6am. Ellen and Umesh are special.

As if one wedding wasn’t enough to organise, these two actually did it twice. This was the first, a hindu ceremony at Dukinfield Town Hall with hundreds of people, lots of laughter and one beautiful bride!

Stay tuned for Day two!

Milli + Chris’ Hindu Wedding at Home

Laura — Thu, 02 Jun 2011 11:22:46 +0000

I actually can’t think of anything more lovely than having a wedding at home in your garden; I was beside myself with excitement! By this point we had papped Milli and Chris at their portrait shoot around Rivington, and the day before at their wedding at Thornton Manor – it was just like hanging out with friends.

Plus they have an adorable cat…

It was cool to see all the wedding aftermath – stuff from the day before all around the house

In true Milli and Chris form, the day they chose to do this was wet and windy! Chris’ dad had a hard time keeping that marquee in place…

Chris wore…

Milli wore…

Milli was being adorned with henna…

Chris wasn’t allowed to see!

Today Milli’s uncle was conducting the ceremony, here he is preparing with a cup of tea

Amazing!

Everyone got into the spirit of things, Chris’ mum had henna done too!

Bridesmaid Lou gave them lots of macaroons the day before; Milli saved us some because she’s lovely

Chris looked amazing!

Time for Milli to get ready. She chose these shoes at random from her wardrobe

Seriously beautiful…

So much laughter getting ready with her aunties (who were forcing her to put on more makeup!)…

Proud dad

Meanwhile downstairs Chris was learning Indian phrases…

The thing about henna is you can’t touch anything!

Time to get married (again!)…

Coats on. It was chilly!

Quite tricky getting around when you’re tied together!

Yum!

Here’s the evidence of who stole Chris’ shoes, which is apparently tradition…

Some street portraits in the rain…

Milli and Chris, hope you’re having an amazing honeymoon! Thank you so much for everything – the tea, the macaroons, the giant pieces of cake and just being so nice to follow around for a few days! xxx

Kavita + Neil’s Wedding at Davenport Green Hall – Part One

Peter — Sat, 02 Apr 2011 20:59:01 +0000

Oh how we loved Kavita & Neil’s wedding! It was the first Hindu wedding ceremony we’ve photographed and we were very excited! It means a lot to us when people trust us to take pictures at their wedding when we’ve not already covered a similar event. The ceremony itself was amazing: it involved a burning fire, lots of candles, incense, garlands and vivid colours everywhere. I’m not going to lie and say we understood everything that was going on but it was lovely and full of tradition.

A special mention must go to Kavita’s parents who were incredibly smiley and welcoming, and made very sure that we were fed and watered! Neil’s parents were equally lovely, and had made the trip over from Cape Town especially for the big day. Surprisingly, the parents had only met each other the night before the wedding, but thankfully they got on very well!

We hadn’t met Neil before the wedding so had no idea what to expect; turns out, he’s just as lovely as Kavita and they both made our job very easy.

On with the photos:

Love this shot Laura got of the girls!Coming up in part two, giggly portraits, speeches, bollywood dancers, and the greatest cake topper in recent history.

Kavita & Neil, like most of our couples, said they couldn’t do the ‘posey picture thing’. They then proceeded to giggle for ten minutes while we pointed our cameras at them, this is technically referred to as ‘bride & groom portrait gold’…

There was a lovely impromptu sing along, such a talented family!

Then it was time for amazing dress number 2!

The details were amazing!

Kavita, Neil and families – thank you for a truly wonderful day. xx
