Jo + James’s Wedding at Wynyard Hall

We had a lovely trip to the North East a couple of weeks ago for this gorgeous autumn wedding. Wynyard Hall is a stunningly beautiful building, with its own chapel attached (handy!) where Jo and James tied the knot.

Lovely people, lots of personal touches and FIVE cakes. Amazing.

Jo chose a dreamy Ian Stuart dress…

As well as a chapel, Wynyard Hall also comes equipped with its own salon, perfect!

Instead of one cake, they had five. Love this idea! The lemon drizzle was the best cake I have ever tasted.

Wedding at Wynyard Hall – Vicki & Howard part 1

We made the long (?) journey over to the north east for Vicki & Howard’s fantastic wedding last Friday. We love travelling for weddings as it’s a great way of seeing more of the UK, most of which we’d probably never get to visit! It’s also good to photograph at venues we’ve never been to before, few things help us feel more creative than to be completely out of our regular comfort zone. Wynyard Hall itself is a stunning venue too, with its own attached chapel and beautiful architecture both inside and out – we always love pillars!

Vicki & Howard are a fun and creative couple who were an absolute pleasure to work with, they wanted their wedding to be very personal and totally relaxed. One of the nicest touches, and certainly quite an epic undertaking, were the place cards which all had a personally written message from the bride and groom – such a lovely idea! We were honoured to be pretty much the only people there on the day that they hadn’t known for years. They found us through their friends Amy and Phil, who’s wedding we photographed over two years ago – thanks for still spreading the word!!

We were joined at the wedding by the very talented James Pearson – an up and coming Scottish wedding photographer who was kind enough to 2nd shoot for us. I’m sure he’ll have some shots up on his blog in the next few weeks.

Vicki & Howard wanted to spend as much time as possible with their friends and family (that is really the point of inviting them all!) that we didn’t have too much time to spend on portraits of the two of them, but when you have a couple and a venue as awesome as this then you don’t need lots of time!

We normally take shots of each other on the dance floor so we can check the light and our camera settings, these are usually some of the most boring pictures that the world will never see – but since we had James along it made them a little more interesting! Here’s Laura and James enjoying a little dance (they may well kill me for posting this!):
