Asha + Brian’s UK Destination Wedding at Peckforton Castle

When you live in the UK, it’s hard to see it as a ‘destination wedding’ location, but when you think about it – Britain IS a very beautiful place. It might not be sunny, but it sure is green! And what’s not amazing about a real life castle?

Asha & Brian came all the way over from Dallas to have their wedding at Peckforton Castle, and seeing as there’s quite a lack of rain over there at the moment, even our inclement weather was something of a pleasant novelty! So much so that half the wedding party went for a run in the morning as they were enjoying the mild weather – out door running is apparently a lot harder in the heat of Texas!

Peckforton Castle was recently subject to an arson attack so were a little worried to see what shape it was in. We’re very happy to report that the damage is completely hidden from view, and I dare say that the new marque for the evening reception might actually be an improvement.

Asha’s little brother was best man, and a fabulous job he did.

This is about the 4th time this poor tie got tied, but perfection takes time:

Asha looked absolutely stunning in her custom made wedding dress.

Having sorted out the legal stuff back in Texas, they had a lovely humanist ceremony – still my favourite type of service!

Shelly & Iain’s Wedding at Peckforton Castle

Last week we had the pleasure of photographing Shelly & Iain’s beautiful wedding at Peckforton Castle. Despite forecasts of torrential rain, the weather co-operated with the wedding schedule and it only rained when everyone was inside!

Shelly & Iain had planned lots of little extras into their day to make it special to them, including a birds of prey exhibition after the wedding ceremony, and a surprise ceilidh in the evening.

Hannah + Neil’s Wedding at Peckforton Castle – Part One

What a gorgeous wedding this was! Hannah and Neil are awesome (remember the portrait shoot when they gave us cupcakes?! Love them). Their wedding was very fun, full of quirky individual details, and at the lovely Peckforton Castle. They even managed to organise good weather, despite what the weather forecast predicted.

Anyway a story is much better told through pictures, enjoy…

Yang + Ian’s Wedding at Peckforton Castle

Yang & Ian’s wedding was a lovely intimate affair with only 14 close family. It’s the smallest wedding we’ve ever photographed and it really showed that you don’t need a hundred people at a wedding to make it a really special celebration. Yang and Ian are a lovely couple and we knew from Yang’s very first email that this was going to be a really fun day for us – she completely got our style and left us to get on with trying to capture the day as best we could. Hopefully we did it justice!

Peckforton Castle was the perfect venue for a smaller wedding, everything was held in the Library room, one we’ve never really been in before – but it’s fantastic and pretty bright (not something that can normally be said about Peckforton!).

Here are some of our favourites from the day, sorry for the extra long post!

Yang’s makeup artist bailed on them the day before the wedding (not cool), but Peckforton Castle now has its own salon and makeup stand – crisis averted!This is Yang & Ian’s utterly adorable daughter, and seriously – how cute is she?!Ian was going for a Fred Astaire look, it rocked The lovely thing about having a smaller wedding here is that it really lets the character of the castle show throughYang’s parents had flown over from China especially for the wedding, and despite not speaking any English they communicated perfectly through the universal language of gesture! In this shot, Yang was already 10 minutes late!They are so cute together!

Claire and David had a lovely wedding at Peckforton Castle, they even managed to organise some sunshine! A lot of time and love went into all the details, which were totally in-keeping with the surroundings; it really was a pleasure to photograph!

Winter weddings are always a little bit challenging due to the lack of light, but they definitely more than make up for it by having a wonderful cosy atmosphere which we love trying to capture!
